The Macedonian Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU) marked 25 years since its establishment in Bitola Sunday, an anniversary dedicated to a quarter century of service in the service of the security of citizens and the state.
Macedonian Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski assesses that the RDU today represents one of the most important operational segments of the Macedonian police and one of the pillars of the state’s security system, emphasizing that the unit has a key role in dealing with the most complex security challenges.
“When the situation requires a swift response, a high level of preparedness, discipline, coordination and professionalism, the members of this unit are where they are needed most. In complex police operations, in support of other organizational units, when securing people and facilities, in cases of larger-scale violations of public order and peace, in situations in which significant police capacities are needed, but also whenever citizens and the state are faced with challenges that require a swift, organized and professional response,” Minister Toshkovski underlined.
