West Nile fever has claimed its eighth victim in the country. A 70-year-old from Drachevo near Skopje who was being treated at the Clinic for Infectious Diseases has died, Macedonian Health Minister Sasho Klekovski confirmed in a statement for TV 24.
The patient was in critical condition and had several comorbidities.
So far, all those who have died in the country from West Nile fever have been adult men who had underlying illnesses. The last official number of people infected with the virus this year was 55 people.
