Deputy PM Nikoloski: New Podgorica–Skopje air route agreed, Skopje–Blace motorway to provide link to Port of Bar

Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski is on a working visit to Podgorica, where he met with Montenegrin Prime Minister Milojko Spajić, Deputy Prime Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Filip Ivanović and Transport Minister Radoš Zečević. They discussed launching regular flights between Skopje and Podgorica, as well as connecting Macedonia to the Port of Bar.
“We discussed connectivity. We have already begun construction on the Skopje–Blace motorway, which opens up a third port for Macedonia, the Port of Bar. This is in addition to the Port of Thessaloniki, with which we already have both highway and rail connections, and the Port of Durrës, where we are currently building both highway and rail links. Thus, the construction of the Skopje–Blace highway also facilitates a connection to the Port of Bar,” Nikoloski said in his address.
The Deputy PM further noted that discussions also covered establishing an air link between the two capitals.
“We also discussed air connectivity, and I expect an agreement to be signed very soon establishing a direct flight between Skopje and Podgorica, thereby adding another capital city to our network of connections. This will greatly benefit the development of tourism, as well as business growth and ties between the two countries. Both the Skopje and Podgorica airports are growing, and this is a great way to continue our cooperation and foster further growth for both airports,” said the Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport.
