FM Mucunski at meeting with Bulgarian counterpart: Issues of identity, history, culture must not be an obstacle to EU path

In an interview with Alsat M, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski commented on the opposition’s, and specifically Venko Filipche’s, call for vetting.
Mickoski indicated that he had no issue with that request; in fact, he said, if they wish, it could be extended to include families, and polygraph tests could even be introduced. The PM pointed out that he and his family had already undergone thorough vetting during the tenure of the SDSM/DUI –led government.
“But that is not the point. First, we need to answer a question: if they believed in vetting, why did they amend the Criminal Code using the ‘European flag’ fast-track procedure and delete Article 353? Why? If they are such great Europeans and honest politicians, why did they do that? I am simply raising a moral dilemma. You go public talking about ‘vetting’—’vetting’ is a nice word, thinking you will impress the citizens. But no. You need to answer a simple question: why did you amend the Criminal Code to grant yourselves political amnesty if you believed in the rule of law? And finally, you need to explain how one acquires a ‘golden visa’ in Dubai and whether the ‘Vitamin D3’ on the yacht in Paliouri had a positive or negative effect. I have no problem with it, but let’s first answer this: how do teenagers become owners of shopping malls? Let’s answer that one first,” stressed Prime Minister Mickoski during an interview with Alsat M TV Thursday evening.
