PM Mickoski: Glad dialogue with Bulgaria has begun, expect it to continue and find a solution

I am glad that dialogue has begun and that our international partners are informed about it. This is the beauty of democracy – to talk when you have different positions, and skill in democracy lies in bringing those different positions closer and reaching a compromise in the end, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski told journalists on Saturday when asked where he sees the way out of the blockade in relations with Bulgaria and his expectations from Thursday’s meeting between the foreign ministers of the two countries.

“I expect dialogue to continue, and that at some point our positions will get closer and we will be able to find a solution,” PM Mickoski told reporters.

Asked if there will be any new meetings before the EU summit in December, Mickoski says the process should be allowed to follow “its natural path” and that the public will be informed about everything it needs to know.

The PM says it is important that dialogue has kicked off.

“The advice from EC President Ursula von der Leyen was to begin dialogue, it has now begun. Our partners are familiar with the contents of the dialogue, and I expect it to continue. So, in the coming period I expect progress to be made, and when progress is made, the public will, of course, be informed about it,” Prime Minister Mickoski added.
