In a statement ahead of Thursday’s Berlin Process Leaders’ Summit in Montenegro, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski says he is expecting very strong messages when it comes to the integration of the Western Balkans to the European Union, as well as a meaningful discussion and very fruitful outcome.
“I expect very strong messages regarding the integration of the Western Balkans into the European Union. Naturally, this includes my own country. Macedonia’s file is very complex. We have long deserved to be part of the EU, but, unfortunately, due to certain artificial reasons, we are still unable to begin negotiations,” Mickoski stated ahead of the Summit.
The PM said that, in his address, he would highlight the Macedonian Government’s strong commitment to the EU reform agenda and European integration, noting that the Government would continue to act in this direction moving forward.
“I will present and convey the message in my address regarding the Macedonian Government’s strong commitment to the EU reform agenda and European integration. In fact, this has been the approach of my Government thus far, and we will continue to follow this path in the future,” Mickoski pointed out. He expressed hope that today’s discussions as part of the Berlin Process Summit would be substantive and yield concrete, fruitful results.
PM Mickoski is leading the Macedonian delegation at the Summit, which is taking place in Sveti Stefan, Montenegro, and will focus on the region’s economic connectivity, security, and the acceleration of integration into the European Union.
