The national data center is one of the top priorities of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the construction could begin in 2027 if procedures proceed as planned, Macedonian Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski told Sitel TV news.
“We are in talks with several potential creditors and international partners. The project will be part of the reform agenda and the Growth Plan, under which we are receiving 30 percent grant component. We have selected a site near Skopje and we are now working with the Ministry of Transport on the urban planning process. The project is progressing through all the required stages and I am confident that we will be able to lay the cornerstone in 2027,” Andonovski said.
Speaking about interest in private data centers, the minister said talks were being held with potential investors, but stressed that the state would not allow projects that could harm the environment.
