With EUR 180 million secured, Alcazar Energy has completed the financing of the first phase of the Wind Park project in Shtip. With this, as the company’s management announced today, it is moving into the next phase of the implementation of the investment of over 500 million dollars. This is one of the three phases that should enable 396 megawatts of electricity in the wind park, which will contain a total of 54 windmills and will be the largest in the region.

“Today we are completing the financial construction for 131 megawatts and 21 turbines, with 180 million euros of investment provided by the EBRD, IFC, Erste Bank together with Sparkasse Bank. I cannot say the name of the company, but I can say that such a company shows confidence in a country like Macedonia,” said Daniel Calderon, co-founder and CEO of Alcazar Energy at an event in Shtip in attended by Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, ministers and representatives of financial partners.

Calderon announced that when the wind farm is completed, it will provide energy for 148,000 households, 570,000 tons of CO2 will be saved, and around 300 jobs will be created. He emphasized cooperation with local authorities and the population, noting that Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski showed on the first day how foreign investors should be treated, which, he pointed out, paves the way for new investments. He also emphasized the support from the competent ministries for obtaining the necessary permits, activities for legal changes, and highlighted the natural resources and professionalism of the staff in the country.
