American DFC in the running to finance Chebren and Galishte

During his interview with Alfa TV’s “Pod Lupa” (Under Magnifying Glass) political show, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski discussed his visit to the United States of America, noting that the government delegation had engaged in an active diplomatic offensive and held numerous economic and political meetings, all with the goal of fostering a developed Macedonia.

“I would divide the visit to the U.S. into two parts: Washington and New York. In Washington, we held meetings that were both essential and political in nature. In addition to meetings in Congress, I would particularly highlight the meeting at the Development Finance Corporation (DFC), which currently holds a financial portfolio exceeding $250 billion. We discussed potential cooperation and the submission of specific projects for their financing. We presented our major capital project, Chebren and Galishte, for which we have been trying to find a private investor for decades. However, market conditions worldwide, including in Europe, are such that we can currently view this project as a domestic, state investment,” said Prime Minister Mickoski.

The Macedonian PM adds that the DFC is already present in Macedonia through project development financing for the antimony project in Krstov Dol, meaning it already has some experience.
