We want to find a solution to the problem with Bulgaria that will ensure predictability in the EU integration process. There is will on the part of European institutions and certain Union member states to help us in opening the room for discussion. Our position is clear – there are no conditions for constitutional changes at this time due to Bulgaria’s position, Macedonian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Timcho Mucunski said in an interview with Sitel TV.
“We have to talk, although there are some topics that cannot be discussed. Nevertheless, I am certain there is room for creativity and a solution can be reached if neighboring Bulgaria shows the will. We are obliged to work and find a solution,” FM Mucunski told Sitel TV.
He says a meeting with Bulgarian officials did not take place during the United Nations General Assembly but there is communication between the two parties.
“There is communication but no appoximation of positions due to lack of interest from the other side,” says Mucunski and expects a meeting with Bulgarian counterpart Velislava Petrova-Chamova at a Corridor VIII meeting in Sofia scheduled for next week.
