Bukojchani-Kichevo section is Government’s sixth motorway project, says Deputy PM Nikoloski

The start of construction on the new motorway section between Bukojchani and Kichevo marks the sixth major infrastructure project initiated by Prime Minister HristijanMickoski’s Government, Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport AleksandarNikoloski said Monday.

“These 12 kilometers are extremely important; they are intended to provide coherence and completeness to the entire motorway connection, not just between Skopje and Ohrid, but for the whole of Corridor VIII. This motorway link gives the entire corridor its full purpose,” Nikoloski said.

He stresses that construction work is starting precisely where the Ohrid-Kichevomotorway ends, with the route continuing toward Bukojchani. At the same time, intensive work is already underway on the motorway section connecting Bukojchani and Gostivar.

The project entails the construction of a modern motorway featuring two traffic lanes in each direction, each 3.5 meters wide, along with 2.75-meter-wide auxiliary lanes on both sides. The design speed will range from 110 to 130 kilometers per hour.

“This is an exceptionally challenging task for the contractors, who will receive full support from the Government, the Ministry of Transport, and the Public Enterprise State Roads,” Deputy Prime Minister Nikoloski underlined.

The Deputy PM thanked the Prime Minister and noted that the start of construction is part of the development vision established in 2024, aimed at positioning the country as a key junction for two Pan-European corridors – Corridor VIII and Corridor X.
