Bulgaria will not deviate from the 2022 agreement, and Skopje’s path to the European Union goes through the implementation of the commitments undertaken, said Bulgaria’s Foreign Minister Velislava Petrova-Chamova.

The FM said the tone from the Bulgarian side remains “extremely positive, but often does not see the same political behavior from Skopje.”

“I hope to find political maturity from the other side to try to approach this way. I do not see that often,” said the Foreign Minister.

Petrova-Chamova is adamant that Sofia’s position remains unchanged and the same regarding the so-called 2022 French proposal.

“It is sad that I am returning to the government four years later, and there is no progress on this issue,” she added.
The position of the Macedonian Government and Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski is that there will be no constitutional amendments without a change in the approach from the Bulgarian side and without guarantees that Bulgaria will not impose new blackmail and demands for concessions.
