Former Struga Mayor Ramiz Merko, along with two other municipal officials, has faced criminal charges for violating the Law on Construction. The Struga Police Department accused them of authorizing construction on a plot of land in the village of Misleshevo despite the absence of complete documentation

In addition to Merko (69), A.B. (40) from Struga and N.R. (57) from the village of Poum have also been targeted by the Struga police; they are charged with negligent performance of official duties.

During his term, by failing to exercise due oversight, Merko acted in violation of the Law on Construction and unlawfully signed a building permit for a cadastral plot in the Struga village of Misleshevo.

The second and third accused, serving as an advisor in the Department for Urban Planning, Communal Activities, Traffic, and Environmental Protection and as the assistant head of the same department, respectively, had previously prepared the permit illegally; acting on incomplete documentation and without a preliminary design, they submitted it to the mayor for signature, resulting in the permit being issued in violation of the Law on Construction.
