Companies show growing interest in digitalization; Government and European Commission offer support

Macedonia possesses a solid foundation for the development of digitalization, along with the skilled personnel and institutions capable of implementing it. While interest among companies is steadily increasing, partnerships and support are essential for the full implementation of digitalization.

The Center for Technology Transfer and Innovations – INOFEIT already offers free services to companies, with funding provided by the European Commission and the Government of the Republic of Macedonia.

“The process of digital transformation is not simple, and it is a challenge that extends beyond our country alone. For this very reason, the European Union has established a network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) across Europe to assist companies in their digital transformation journey. There are approximately 200 such hubs operating in Europe; in Macedonia, in addition to our own, another one has begun operations this year,” said Professor Dimitar Tashkovski, CEO of INOFEIT EDIH.

The Macedonian Government has announced that state funding for such hubs will continue.

“We plan to continue actively supporting this operational model in the period ahead. Plans are already in place for another Digital Innovation Hub, for which the Government has decided to provide one million euros in support, co-financed through the Digital Europe programme. Additional Digital Innovation Hubs are expected to be developed in the coming period. This is how we support the private sector in its digital transformation. There are no allegations of corruption, nor are there accusations of favoritism towards specific companies. All companies that applied and met the criteria went through the established processes, receiving free training, mentorship, analyses, and opportunities for the digital transformation of their businesses,” Macedonian Minister of Digital Transformation Stefan Andonovski said Monday.
