Pulse fire case trial: Nightclub owner Jovanov proposed as witness in Trial against nine police officers

The trial of nine police officers accused in the case involving the “Pulse nightclub in Kochani resumed Monday at the Skopje Criminal Court, with the defense presenting its proposed evidence.

The defense requested the admission of various pieces of documentary evidence and the examination of several witnesses, including Dejan Jovanov, known as Deko. According to the proposal, the witness is expected to testify regarding whether he obtained any unlawful financial gain and whether he had any contact with, or was acquainted with, the defendant Bobi Gidioski.

Branko Kolev, the defense attorney for Bobi Gidioski, stated to the media following the hearing that they had submitted both documentary and testimonial evidence, comprising 16 documents and eight witnesses.

“As the defense counsel for the defendant Bobi Gidioski, we have proposed a significant amount of evidence, consisting of both documentary and testimonial materials. Specifically, we have submitted approximately 16 documents and eight witnesses, among whom is Dejan Jovanov, known as Deko, the owner of the Pulse nightclub.

“We are proposing this in relation to specific circumstances, as the prosecutor claims that the defendants allowed Deko to obtain a financial benefit, namely, the wage he received as an employee over a six-month period. Therefore, we are requesting that he be questioned regarding this, specifically, whether this opportunity was indeed provided to him by the defendants,” said Kolev.

The attorney added that some of the submitted documents pertain to the operations of the Ministry of Interior (MoI), specifically the Shtip Police Department, while others relate to information regarding problematic issues at the Pulse nightclub.
