We have 24 new destinations from the two Macedonian airports in just a year and a half, and Skopje Airport has the highest growth rate in the region. An increase in capacities and modernization of the airports is coming, Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski said in an interview with Kanal 77.
“To date, we have 24 new destinations from both airports. There are some from Wizz Air, but there are also other companies. A few days ago we announced new connections with Bratislava and Milan, next we will have the Ohrid – Vienna connection, which will be with Austrian Airlines, so different companies are opening different destinations,” said Nikoloski.
Compared to other airports in the region, Nikoloski stressed that the growth rate of Skopje Airport for this year, according to renowned aviation magazines, will be the highest. The Deputy PM also announced that there are already plans to increase the capacities of Macedonian airports.
“There are already conditions to open 6 additional service windows at the existing terminal at Skopje Airport, and we will soon begin a complete reconstruction of the Ohrid Airport, which should resemble the Skopje Airport in a smaller version, with a modern terminal building to be built there,” said Transport Minister Nikoloski.
