A court president and a court administrator tried to obtain favorable verdicts for a person from whom they took a bribe to secure a favorable verdict. In total, they collected EUR 8,800.

The public prosecutor in question from the Public Prosecutor’s Office OCC initiated Friday an investigation against the two individuals, who as accomplices committed the crime of Receiving a reward for unlawful influence.

The suspects, in the period from January 2023 to 2025, together, intentionally taking advantage of their official position, real and presumed influence as President and Court Administrator, demanded and received a monetary reward in the amount of EUR 8,000, and the second suspect also received an amount of 800 euros, in order to intervene with a judge of the Gostivar Basic Court and a council of judges of the Gostivar Appellate Court to perform an official action that should not have been performed.

At the beginning of 2023, the suspects promised a person who was a party to a civil dispute procedure to help him. For a fee of EUR 5,000, they were supposed to intervene with a judge of the Gostivar Basic Court to issue a decision to repeat the procedure for which a negative verdict had been issued.

After failing again, at the request of the suspects, they had to intervene with judges in the second instance for additional funds in the amount of 3,000 euros to revoke the decision that did not allow a repetition of the procedure.

Later, an amount of EUR 800 was given to the second suspect as a reward in order to complete work in relation to the written document submitted by the enforcement agent.

The prosecutor forwarded to the judge of the preliminary procedure a proposal for determining precautionary measures for both suspects, namely a ban on leaving the residence, i.e. place of residence, an obligation for the defendant to report periodically to a designated official or to a competent state body; temporary confiscation of a travel or other document for crossing the state border, i.e. a ban on its issuance and a ban on undertaking certain work activities related to the crime.
