A mobile team from the Operations Department prevented an attempt to smuggle two thousand vials of medical solution Gadonans, which a Kosovo citizen, a driver of a freight vehicle, wanted to smuggle by hiding them in the cabin of the vehicle.
With this action, the Customs Administration clearly demonstrates its efforts to protect the health of citizens, preventing unsafe medical preparations from reaching them.
“The vials were seized, and a criminal complaint was filed against the perpetrator by the Investigation Department for the crime of smuggling, punishable under the Criminal Code.
The perpetrator, a Kosovo citizen, employed as a driver in a Kosovo transport company, was transporting aluminum profiles on the Turkey-Kosovo route and was stopped for control by the mobile team at the Deve Bair border crossing. When asked if there was anything to declare besides the goods that were declared, the driver stated that there was nothing to declare, after which, due to suspicion, a detailed control was conducted,” informed the Customs Administration.
“The vials, a total of two thousand pieces, packed in folders and bags, in bulk and without the original packaging, were found in various places in the vehicle’s cabin – in the upper bed, in the factory cavity, in the space above the driver’s seat, as well as in the personal luggage found in the lower bed. The medical preparations, in this case vials with the solution Gadonans 7.5 ml which is injected intravenously during magnetic resonance, are subject to mandatory import permits, as well as strictly prescribed temperature and safety conditions for storage and transport,” said the Customs.
The Customs Administration prevented 13 attempts at smuggling and seized a total of 29 thousand pieces of medicines and medical preparations in 2026.
