A part of the Prilep-Bitola motorway will become a reality by next spring, and it will be completely finished in 2029, says Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport and Communications, Aleksandar Nikoloski, noting that there is still one big problem with the construction of the motorway.

“We only have one obstruction. It is about a dozen owners of illegally built villas and haciendas with swimming pools in the vicinity of Prilep near the Oreovec area. There are a dozen citizens there who do not allow the contractor to access the excavation of the buffer for the highway, although they allow the private contractor who has a deposit in the neighborhood,” said Nikoloski.

The deputy PM added that the damage to the state budget from that blockade could reach up to EUR 100 million, because now material must be purchased from private quarries and the transport of the buffer must also be compensated.
