Deputy PM Nikoloski: It is in Macedonia’s geostrategic interest to join Three Seas Initiative

The worst thing that could happen to a country is to not understand the new currents. We must be aware of the circumstances in which we find ourselves and what opportunities await us and to take advantage of them, underlined Deputy PM Nikoloski

The new geopolitical currents in the world are clear, and we need to be smart, our diplomacy should get on board the Three Seas Initiative at its inception as a geostrategic interest of the country, noted Macedonian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Aleksandar Nikoloski at a panel discussion Thursday titled “Transport Corridors – a Geostrategic Prerequisite for Economic Prosperity and Security Architecture in Southeast Europe – Three Seas Initiative”, held at the Economic Chamber of N. Macedonia.

Commenting on Macedonia’s geopolitical position, Deputy PM Nikoloski emphasized that the Government’s policies were aimed at positioning Macedonia as a strategic partner of the United States in the region.

“A series of events, with my visit to Washington, with the current strategic dialogue taking place in Washington and with the visit that the Minister of Finance will also have in Washington, indicates that we are trying to position ourselves in the region as strategic partners of the United States. If we add to that the strategic Government-to-Government (G2G) partnership that we signed last May in London with the United Kingdom, if we add to that the Strategic Partnership Agreement that we signed in July last year with Hungary, I think things are clear. The worst thing that could happen to a country is to not understand the new currents. We must be aware of the circumstances in which we find ourselves and what opportunities await us and to take advantage of them,” underlined Deputy PM Nikoloski.
