The 2026 budget revision is not a result of problems with public finances, but rather a development-oriented document that provides additional funds for capital investments, support for citizens and further economic growth amid increased uncertainty on global markets, geopolitical risks and price pressures, Macedonian Finance Minister Gordana Dimitrieska-Kochoska said Tuesday.

The Government, through the 2026 budget revision, she says, ensures the stability of public finances, ensures regular payment of all legal obligations of the state, while at the same time increasing funds for capital investments, agriculture, social protection, education, sports and local development.

“The budget revision will ensure regular payment of salaries, pensions, social benefits and all other obligations that the state has towards its citizens. However, in conditions of already secured stable budget revenues and public finances, we are now placing the emphasis on capital investments. The investments that we are making today in roads, railways, energy, education, healthcare and communal infrastructure will create higher economic activity, new jobs and a better standard of living,” Minister Dimitrieska-Kochoska said in an interview with Plusinfo.

In the interview, Dimitrieska-Kochoska pointed out that the budget revision is an adjustment to the changed economic circumstances and new legal obligations, and not a result of a lack of revenues or impaired liquidity.
