The Macedonian Ministry of Interior (MoI) confirmed previous information by NetPress regarding the arrest of the former head of the Football Federation of Macedonia (FFM), MuhamedMetiSejdinifor abuse of office and illegal appropriation of a large sum, and at the same time he was ordered detention for 30 days due to risk of flight.
According to the charges, in the period from November to December 2024, as an official, the then FFM president obtained illegal property gain of approximately 660,000 Euros for a legal entity from Skopje, i.e. an amount that exceeds significant property gain.
With the financial support from UEFA within the framework of the HatTrick VIprogram, the suspect initiated a procedure for the implementation of the project – construction of a grandstand at the “BiljaniniIzvori” stadium in Ohrid and submitted a proposal to initiate a procedure for the selection of a company for the implementation of the project. The most favorable bid for construction was selected in a total amount of approximately EUR 3.3 million excluding VAT.
However, although the contractor did not request this, nor was it indicated as a possibility in the requests for bids, the suspect, contrary to the decision of the Board of Directors, inserted an additional condition in the concluded contract with the selected company, which provided for an advance payment in the amount of 20 percent of the total value of the contract before the start of construction work and without any prior action by the contractor. He did not provide any legal security for the funds paid as an advance, he signed such an agreement, the funds in the amount of approximately 660,000 euros that were entrusted to him in the service, and with his order to the payment services, he transferred them in advance to the legal entity.
