The extraordinary controls of the Food and Veterinary Agency (FVA) revealed that some of the dairy products do not correspond to the declarations. In one product, the difference was drastic. 500 kilograms of a product with palm fat were also withdrawn from circulation, the Agency said on Sunday.
In the case of one food operator, laboratory testing of a sample of the seized 22 kilograms of fine cheese determined that 20 percent milk fat was declared, while the product contained only 1 percent, for which he was fined 3,500 euros in denar equivalent.
In the case of another food operator, testing determined that he used vegetable (palm) fats in the production of a dairy product, for which he was fined 1,300 euros in denar equivalent. The disputed dairy product, weighing a total of 500 kilograms, was recalled by this operator and harmlessly destroyed in a landfill.
