Macedonian Minister of Health Sasho Klekovski, accompanied by a delegation from the World Bank and representatives of the Ministry of Health, visited the Clinical Hospital in Tetovo on Wednesday.
The concept for a thorough reconstruction, expansion and complete equipping of the hospital was presented at the meeting. The estimated value of the project is MKD 4.56 billion, or EUR 74 million, and the final financial model will be defined after the preparation of the necessary analyses and documentation.
The project envisages the reconstruction and modernization of the surgical and internist blocks, the construction of a new pavilion for several medical activities, a separate facility for gynecology, obstetrics and neonatology, the procurement of modern medical equipment and IT systems, as well as the removal of dilapidated facilities and the complete renovation of the hospital complex.
The investment is of particular importance for around 251,500 residents of the Polog region, as it should provide more health services at the local level, shorter waiting times and reduce the need for patients to be referred for treatment to Skopje.
