Indian President Draupadi Murmu arrives Monday on an official visit to Macedonia, as part of her European tour that also includes Moldova and Romania. The visit has historical significance, as it is the first official visit by an Indian president to Macedonia since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During her stay in Skopje, Murmu is expected to meet with the state leadership, with the focus of the talks being on promoting bilateral cooperation, economic relations, trade, investments, information technology, education and science. Meetings with representatives of the business community are also planned as part of the visit, as well as activities dedicated to strengthening cultural ties between the two countries.
Of particular symbolic significance is the fact that Skopje is the birthplace of Saint Mother Teresa, one of the most respected figures in India, which represents a strong cultural and spiritual connection between the two countries.
President Drupadi Murmu’s visit will last until July 23.
