In the premises of the City of Skopje, Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski held a coordination meeting with the Skopje mayors and the City Crisis Staff, at which the damages and consequences of the severe storm were discussed, as well as the method of paying the damage compensations.
At the meeting, it was agreed that all Municipalities should form committees before which citizens could report damages caused by the storm. Then, in coordination with the City of Skopje, an expert assessment of the reported damages will be carried out, after which, in accordance with the legal regulations and available possibilities, a procedure will be initiated for the payment of funds to citizens for the rehabilitation of damaged residential buildings.
Mayor Gjorgjievski also informed that in the coming period, municipal construction inspectors, housing inspectors and other competent services from the municipalities will begin conducting intensified and strict controls on all buildings that had their roofs blown off or significantly damaged during the severe storm.
“All buildings with damaged roofs will be inspected to determine the causes of the damage, taking into account that their maintenance is the obligation of the house councils,” said Gjorgjievski.
The capital’s mayor added that all available capacities have been put into operation to deal with the consequences of the storm and stressed that the City of Skopje also has a solidarity fund, which provides funds for compensating citizens in such situations.
