There is no legal or political guarantee that can be given to the Macedonian government that there will be no new blockades from Sofia, the Italian ambassador to the country Paolo Palminteri said in an interview with TV24.
“The best guarantee would be a different climate of trust between North Macedonia and its neighbor,” said the ambassador.
Speaking about Italy’s presence, the ambassador believes that constitutional amendments and the Copenhagen criteria will continue to be an important segment of the accession process, but says that, since everyone enters the same family, political issues that seem important further lose relevance.
