Loan interest rates drop–average interest rate at 4.67% in June

Average interest rates on loans in banks and savings banks continued to decline in June 2026, while interest rates on deposits remained almost unchanged, according to the latest data from the Macedonian National Bank (NBRM)

Average interest rates on loans in banks and savings banks continued to decline in June 2026, while interest rates on deposits remained almost unchanged, according to the latest data from the Macedonian National Bank (NBRM).

The average interest rate on total loans was 4.67% in June, which is a drop of 0.02 percentage points compared to May and 0.36 percentage points compared to the same month last year.

The average interest rate on total deposits remained at 2.17%, which is 0.03 percentage points lower on an annual basis.

For newly approved loans, the average interest rate was 4.38%, with a monthly and annual decrease of 0.04 percentage points. The average interest rate on newly received deposits increased, amounting to 2.54 5 and is higher on a monthly and annual basis.

The average interest rate on total household loans decreased to 5.02%, which is 0.42 percentage points less compared to last year. Newly approved loans recorded a monthly growth, with the interest rate reaching 4.71%.

The average interest rate on household deposits was 2.10%, while newly received deposits hiked to 2.74%, which represents growth both on a monthly and annual basis.

In the corporate sector, the average interest rate on total loans decreased to 4.31%, while newly approved loans registered a slight growth of 4.25%. The average interest rate on company deposits was 2.66%, while newly received deposits went up to 2.20%.
