The latest data for August show continued the stabilization of prices and positive developments in the Macedonian economy.
“The annual inflation rate in August 2026 is 2.6 percent, while in the same month in 2022, inflation was as high as 16.8 percent. This shows how significantly inflationary pressure has decreased compared to the period when citizens and the economy were facing strong price increases. The comparison with European economies is particularly significant. According to Eurostat data published so far, inflation in the Eurozone in August is estimated at 3.3 percent, compared to 2.6 percent in Macedonia. In July, inflation in the Eurozone was 2.9 percent, while in Macedonia it was 2.3 percent. This means that for the second month in a row, Macedonia has had a lower inflation rate than the Eurozone,” the Macedonian Government said.
“Macedonia, in conditions of renewed external price pressures, manages to maintain inflation at a relatively low level. This is another positive economic indicator at the beginning of September. Industrial production in July recorded a growth of 1.3 percent annually, and in the first seven months of the year it increased by 0.9 percent. The latest economic indicators should be viewed as a whole – growth in industrial production, economic growth and stabilization of inflation at a level lower than the Eurozone. The Government remains fully committed to policies that will ensure price stability, protection of living standards, higher wages and pensions, new investments and accelerated economic growth. From inflation of 16.8 percent in August 2022 to 2.6 percent in August 2026,” reads the Government’s press release.
The Macedonian economy is stabilizing, and the positive indicators since the beginning of September provide a basis for this trend to continue, the Government adds.
