Skopje International Airport and Ohrid St. Paul the Apostle Airport continue to break records. In the first nine months of 2026 both Macedonian airports, managed by TAV Macedonia, a subsidiary of TAV Airports a member of Groupe ADP, served a total of 3,3 million passengers (3.331.685) which is a 29% increase compared to the same period in 2025, TAV Macedonia said in a press release Wednesday.
“The results achieved in the first nine months of 2026 strongly confirm the positive trend in Macedonian aviation, with the total number of passengers reaching 3.3 million, a year-on-year increase of 29%. This growth is also reflected in the ACI Europe rankings, where North Macedonia was ranked as the second fastest-growing aviation market in Europe in August. I would like to sincerely thank the airport staff for their professionalism, hard work, and dedication, as well as the Government, the airlines—our partners—and all stakeholders contributing to the continued growth of the Macedonian aviation sector.
We expect this positive trend of impressive double-digit growth in air traffic to continue, but our ambition goes beyond simply increasing passenger numbers. We are committed to combining sustainable growth with excellence in service quality and the passenger experience, ensuring that Macedonian airports continue to meet the highest international standards,” TAV Macedonia General Manager Nejat Kurt told reporters.
According to TAV Macedonia statistics, Skopje International Airport handled 3,065,692 passengers during the January–September period (a 29.07% increase) and 20,081 flights (an 8.46% increase), while St. Paul the Apostle Airport in Ohrid handled 265,993 passengers (a 26.76% increase) and 2,066 flights (a 27.06% increase).
The top five destinations by passenger traffic from the airport in Macedonia’s capital are: Istanbul with a 13.5% market share (including both airports IGA and Sabiha Gökçen); Basel-Mulhouse with 4.4%; Munich with 4.1%; Dortmund with 4%; and Zurich with a 3.8% market share.
