Macedonian Economic Chamber wins UNCTAD award

The initiative of the Economic Chamber of North Macedonia to advance decarbonization and corporate sustainability is among the top three initiatives globally recognized at the ISAR Honours 2026, an award presented by the Intergovernmental Working Group of Experts on International Standards of Accounting and Reporting (ISAR) under UNCTAD (UN Trade and Development).

The award was presented at a ceremony in Geneva, following a selection process involving organizations and institutions from various regions worldwide. This recognition acknowledges the Chamber’s approach internationally as a practical model that links policies, capacity building, and concrete business solutions with the global sustainable development agenda.

The initiative, titled ‘Advancing Decarbonization and Corporate Sustainability through Policy Development, Capacity Building, and Practical Business Solutions: The Economic Chamber’s Experience’ assists companies in transitioning from isolated activities to the systematic measurement, monitoring, and reporting of their sustainability performance.

The Chamber’s approach integrates the Online Decarbonization Guide, the ‘Step-by-Step’ CBAM Guide, the Circular Economy Center, and programs focused on ESG and sustainability reporting. Through practical methodologies and sector-specific guidelines, companies receive support for measuring emissions, setting targets, preparing decarbonization roadmaps, and sustainability reporting.

“The green transformation is not a distant goal—it is an opportunity for companies today. That is why we established the Center for Circular Economy and developed the Decarbonization Guide, aiming to help companies navigate the green transition process more easily,” said the Economic Chamber head Branko Azeski on Friday.
