The “Safe City” mobile application for online payment for violations, which is currently intended only for cars with foreign license plates, will also be available for Macedonian citizens soon.
Macedonian Minister of Interior Panche Toshkovski pointed out that the fines apply equally to both domestic and foreign drivers.
“In six days, four foreign nationals who were supposed to drive a motor vehicle at a maximum of 80 (km per hour), drove the motor vehicle at 180. Should they not be fined? Should we only fine Macedonians when they violate the law? Laws apply equally to everyone – both domestic and foreign nationals – that is the basic principle in a normal democratic state,” said Minister Toshkovski.
