A major police operation that resulted in arrests was carried out in GolemaRechica near Tetovo, following information from the United States’ FBI, for an illegal online marketplace called OLVX and for misuse of personal data, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said Tuesday.
MoI’s Cybercrime Sector conducted a joint coordinated investigation into the illegal online marketplace known as OLVX.
According to the information provided, the online marketplace had been active since July 2023 and operated through multiple internet domains and contained a detailed database of compromised personal data for registering customer and seller accounts, with over 2,600 user accounts and over 1,500 seller accounts recorded. The total sales value of the items exceeds USD 500,000.
As part of the procedure, and based on a court order issued by the TetovoBasic Court, a search was conducted on the territory of the Municipality of Tetovo, in the village of GolemaRechica, at the premises of the suspects, aged 20 and 23, Macedonian nationals, for whom there are reasonable suspicions that they are administrators of the aforementioned online market.
During the search, they were found on the spot committing a crime for which they are suspected, and desktop computers, laptops and phones were confiscated, which will be the subject of further forensic analysis and will serve as evidence in the criminal procedure, and the suspects were arrested and detained.
