Mickoski: We are neighbors with Serbia, my focus is on Macedonia

I spoke with the list leader around noon. I didn’t think I needed to turn that into a public spectacle or announce, I just had a conversation, Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski said during an interview with Kanal 5 TV, when asked about the elections in Serbia.

“I would describe the conversation as a matter of protocol; I don’t actually know Mr. Srdanović, who is the leader of the list that won the election. We are neighbors, and our primary focus is on our own domestic issues. I hope that in the future, we will see even better cooperation and good neighborly relations. What interests me most in this context is our bilateral relationship, specifically regarding the economy. I believe there is significant potential to further expand upon what currently exists,” Mickoski noted.

Regarding whether he had spoken with Aleksandar Vučić, and concerning relations with his party’s sister party in Serbia, Mickoski said his focus is Macedonia.

“My focus is specifically on Macedonia and VMRO-DPMNE. We have the kind of relationship that exists between sister parties, much like the relationship we have with the HDZ, with GERB, or with any other sister party, such as the CDU/CSU in Germany or Janša’s SDS party in Slovenia, and wherever I am called upon to help, we will provide our support. I haven’t spoken [with them] yet, but that doesn’t mean I won’t; I assume we will talk when we meet as part of the European People’s Party,” said PM Mickoski.
