Macedonian Minister of Defense Vlado Misajlovski during his official visit to the United States of America, held a series of important meetings at the U.S. Pentagon. These talks, which are part of the ongoing strategic dialogue between the two countries, represent another strong confirmation of the mutual commitment and long-standing support in the field of security.

During his stay at the Pentagon, Minister Misajlovski also met with the Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs Daniel Zimmerman. At the meeting, it was concluded that the strategic partnership and bilateral cooperation in the field of defense are currently at an exceptionally high level.

The two interlocutors emphasized the joint determination to further deepen cooperation, with a special focus on strengthening regional, but also global security.

According to the Defense Ministry’s press release, Misajlovski expressed gratitude to the American side for the continued support, which is of vital importance for the modernization of the Macedonian Army and achieving full interoperability with NATO allies.

The focus of the talks at the Pentagon was also the meeting with the Director of the U.S. Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA), Mike Miller. At this meeting, it was emphasized that investing in national defense capacities is not only an obligation, but also a basic prerequisite for stable and long-term development of the overall security system.

Misajlovski and Miller reviewed current projects, as well as future support programs through which the United States provides financial and technical assistance to allied countries. It was confirmed that the cooperation so far has been successful, and plans for the future include an increased pace of implementation of common strategic goals.

“The strategic partnership and defense cooperation were reaffirmed at the meeting. It is considered a firm basis to further enhance and improve the partnership with the United States in the interest of regional and global security. I also thanked for the current support that plays an important role in the development and modernization of Macedonian defense capacities and in strengthening our readiness and interoperability with the allies,” said Misajlovski.
