The 74-year-old Shtip resident Denis Asanov was sentenced to life imprisonment for killing 79-year-old Borjanka Nikolova, also a Shtip resident, in 2025, after which he dismembered her body.
Part of her remains was found in the yard of his house, while the rest was not found, although the police, along with the Shtip PE Isar, also searched the “Treshtena Skala” landfill based in Shtip.
Judge Julijana Nedkova at theShtip Basic Court on Tuesday declared Asanov guilty and announced the verdict.
According to the Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO), Asanov committed the gruesome murder in a monstrous and merciless manner. The suspect murdered Nikolova with a sharp object, cut off her head and legs, and buried the corpse with his hands in the yard of his house, while throwing the head and legs to an unknown location.
The murder was committed last year, and an autopsy revealed that the victim had eight broken ribs and severe chest injuries, likely from severe pressure. The victim’s remains were found two weeks after her death.
