During its 89th session Wednesday evening, the Macedonian Parliament adopted without debate a set of laws that level the wages of elected and appointed officials. These laws provide for a wage reduction by MKD 13,000. The MPs voted on amendments to the Law on Members of Parliament, the Law on Wages and Other Remunerations of Elected and Appointed Persons, the Law on Wages of Public Prosecutors, the Law on Wages of Judges, the Law on Wages of Members of the Council of Public Prosecutors of the Republic of Macedonia and the Law on Wages of Members of the Judicial Council of the Republic of N. Macedonia.

These laws, as explained earlier in the day by one of the proposers of the legal amendments, VMRO-DPMNE MP Bojan Stojanoski, establish realistic wage levels. MP Stojanoski explained that these proposed solutions involve an intervention in the coefficients and that this legal solution is in accordance with the Constitution and cannot be appealed before the Constitutional Court.
