Despite the fact that there are more than 10,000 job vacancies on the Macedonian labor market, the greatest demand is concentrated in sectors with lower and middle incomes. The latest data from the State Statistics Office (SSO) show that employers are most in demand for personnel in service industries, sales and hospitality.

In Q1 2026, 10,247 job vacancies were registered, which is a rate of 2.07 percent. At the same time, there are over 484 thousand filled job positions in the country, which indicates a relatively stable labor market.

The greatest shortage of workers is in the accommodation and food service sector, where the vacancy rate reaches almost five percent. There is also high demand in administrative and auxiliary service activities.

According to occupations, workers in service industries and sales are most in demand, where over 2,300 vacant positions are recorded. This is followed by the processing industry and wholesale and retail trade, with more than 2,000 job vacancies.
