Gostivar resident Leni Angeloska-Zdravska and her two young children were attacked by dogs in the village of Drugovo, near Kichevo. She said she experienced horror, published photos of the children’s injuries and demanded a reaction from the institutions.
“On May 22, 2026, in the village of Drugovo near Kichevo, we experienced a real horror. I went out with my two minor children for a short walk, when we were attacked by two aggressive black (Rottweiler) dogs. First they started barking. In a panic, I lifted the smaller child in my arms, and with the other hand I tried to protect the older girl and hid her behind me. At that moment, one of the dogs pulled the small child out of my arms and he fell onto the sidewalk. While I was trying to save him, the other dog appeared, which aggressively attacked me, grabbed my sweatshirt and pulled the child from me again. The child was dragged along the sidewalk and at one point a car came up to us, the car turned off and the child ended up literally up to the front wheel, almost under the car. With my last strength, I managed to pull him out, picked him up and went into the neighbors’ yard to save ourselves. But the dogs continued to come back for us,” wrote the mother.
She says that the child sustained bodily injuries that were confirmed at the Kichevo Medical Center.
“The scariest thing of all is that the owner of the dogs cold-bloodedly replied that “he’s fine” and showed no remorse, responsibility or humanity. He didn’t even ask how the children were, or what exactly happened. This case was reported to the Ministry of Interior by the ambulance, a statement was given by me. I am not sharing this to create drama, but because today it was my child – tomorrow it could be someone else’s. I demand responsibility and a reaction from the competent institutions. No one should have to go through such fear and trauma. I ask for support, sharing and unity as a people, so that such situations can finally be put to an end before it is too late,” the mother added.
