Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski believes that the opposition’s views on the Macedonian economy do not warrant comment because, as he says, they are far from the truth, especially regarding the country’s economy, which he describes as stronger than those of other nations in the region.
“The economy was heading straight for bankruptcy leading up to 2024, but fortunately, we are managing to consolidate it despite the extremely difficult global conditions currently in play. I can state that the situation is stable, and all indicators suggest that the Macedonian economy is currently much more stable than any other economy in the region, or even beyond,” Mickoski said in response to a reporter’s question.
The PM noted that during the final two months of the third quarter (Q3), exports grew by nearly 11.5 percent, outpacing imports, which recorded growth of approximately 8.5 percent.
“This means that exports are growing faster than imports, even as our largest trading partner, the EU, faces challenges that I believe are the greatest in history, or at least since the decades following World War II. I consider this a success; the Government’s policy, combined with the subsidized loans companies utilized to invest in more advanced production, is resulting in both increased investment activity and higher exports,” PM Mickoski pointed out.
