Macedonian Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski has met with Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Janša in New York. Talks focused on Macedonia’s European perspective, deepening political and economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as current geopolitical and security challenges in Europe and the region, PM Mickoski said Wednesday in a social media post.
“Macedonia remains firmly committed to its European future and to reforms that bring a better life for its citizens. Our position is clear – European integration must be based on merit, fulfilled criteria, and tangible results, rather than new bilateral conditions that bear no substantive relation to European values. We seek neither privileges nor a shortcut. We seek a fair and predictable process in which achievements are recognized and Macedonia is respected as a state and a partner,” Mickoski said in his post.
The Macedonian PM stresses that Slovenia is a long-standing friend and an important partner in the European Union and NATO.
“It is in our mutual interest to translate this friendship into even stronger economic cooperation, more investment and concrete projects that create new opportunities for citizens and the business sector. Macedonia will not stand still as it advances along its European path. We will continue to develop the economy, implement reforms, strengthen our international partnerships, and defend Macedonian national interests with dignity. We are building friendships, creating opportunities, and working to ensure Macedonia becomes an economically stronger and respected nation,” added PM Mickoski.
