The Constitutional Court president Darko Kostadinovski reacted to the announcement of the political party Levica, emphasizing that he will not comment on political positions, but feels obliged to respond to, as he stated, personal disqualifications and insults directed at him.

“As the president of the Constitutional Court, I remain consistent with my principled position not to comment on anyone’s political positions expressed in public. However, this time, since we are talking about personal disqualifications and insults, I feel obliged to state that unfortunately, a primitive political mentality still persists on the Macedonian political scene. At the same time, I would like to express my regret that someone persistently gives a political dimension to my professional life and personal career,”Kostadinovskinoted in his written reaction to the media.

Kostadinovskisaid in his press release that the decision where he will continue his career after the end of his term is his personal choice and a legitimate right, as well as that of every citizen who meets the legal requirements for practicing a certain profession.

“The question of where my career will continue after the end of my term and whether it will be the university community is my personal choice, as well as a legitimate right of every citizen who meets the legal requirements for practicing a certain profession,” Kostadinovskistressed.

Referring to the criticisms related to his possible engagement in the academic sphere, the court’s president pointed out that the only relevant criteria are his scientific work, professional experience and the needs of the academic community.

“For the specific issue that some political structures are preoccupied with, the following criteria are relevant: my scientific work and experience, as well as the need of the academic community for such staff. And, these criteria, which are easy to objectify, certainly do not depend on any politician and their preferences,” the president of the Constitutional Court pointed out.
