Renovation of the Leshok Monastery to be completed by the end of June

The old house called konak in the Leshok Monastery will be fully completed by the end of June, giving this significant spiritual complex a renewed and dignified appearance, Macedonian Culture Minister Zoran Ljutkov said during a working visit to the Leshok Monastery.

During the visit, Minister Ljutkov was accompanied by the Metropolitan of the Tetovo-Gostivar Diocese Bishop Josif, the National Conservation Center director Aleksandar Jordanoski, as well as an expert team from the institution.

The minister informed that the project for conservation, restoration, rehabilitation and revitalization of the old konak is in its final phase, for which the Ministry of Culture and Tourism has allocated MKD 6 million. Construction activities, which include masonry and carpentry works, are taking place in accordance with the planned dynamics.

Regarding the project for the conservation and restoration of the church “Sveta Bogorodica”, where significant three-layer frescoes from the 14th, 17th and 19th centuries were discovered, it was pointed out that the activities have been temporarily put on hold due to the need for additional expert analyses and protective measures. The works will continue after an assessment has been carried out, with the aim of fully preserving this exceptionally valuable cultural heritage.
