Opposition SDSM party leaderVenkoFilipchereiterated that the SDSM parliamentary group is only leaving the Electoral Law working group, explaining that all democratic methods will be used to prevent the caretaker government from being scrapped.

“We are only leaving the Electoral Law working group, because the new Law on Government, which is being passed in this way, is something that also means suppression of democracy in the country. Why? Because the conditions for the caretaker government to be removed have not matured. If one government, one law, caretaker government was adopted by consensus in 2016, it was returned again at the personal request of HristijanMickoski in 2018, and the law clearly states that this will be the case until the country enters the European Union,” Filipche told reporters.

The opposition leader added thatfair and democratic elections cannot be guaranteedwithout a caretaker government, and announced that SDSM will use all democratic methods to prevent its scrapping.

“There is no guarantee without a caretaker government in the form it is currently in, the law on elections adopted in 2016 and for 2020, or again a law in 2018, that is the only guarantee that the country will have fair and democratic elections, and we are ready to use all democratic methods to fight against this,” underlined the SDSM leader.
