Skopje deserves major, life-changing projects, says Mayor Gjorgjievski at EBRD Board of Directors meeting

Skopje Mayor Orce Gjorgjievski met Wednesday with a visiting delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development’s (EBRD) Board of Directors in order to, as the mayor said, deepen cooperation aimed at implementing strategic investments the capital needs.

“My commitment is rock-solid. Every project must address a real issue, and every investment must bring tangible benefits to the people of Skopje. We placed special emphasis on the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system. The pre-qualification process for contractors for Line 1 has already begun, and activities to secure expert support for the project’s implementation are proceeding in parallel,” Gjorgjievski said in a social media post Wednesday.

“We also discussed the wastewater treatment plant in Trubarevo, an investment of immense importance for protecting water resources, the environment, and citizens’ health. This is also a responsibility toward the generations to whom we will leave this city,” Gjorgjievski wrote. The Mayor also stated that he had reaffirmed the commitment to continued cooperation on infrastructure modernization, energy efficiency, and the implementation of the Green Action Plan for Skopje.

“The trust invested in me by the citizens is my greatest responsibility. I will continue to drive projects forward and work steadfastly until they are realized. Our success must be felt in the daily lives of Skopje’s residents! For a Skopje that moves forward. For a city we will be proud of once again,” the mayor noted in a social media post following the meeting with EBRD representatives.
