Three Skopje residents arrested for extortion and threats – demanded €10,000

As part of the “Cleaner” police operation, police officers from the Criminal Police Department, specifically the Sector for General and Violent Crime and Domestic Violence, in coordination with the Shtip and Skopje Regional Police Departments and the Delchevo Municipal Police Station, conducted searches at two locations and arrested three individuals from Skopje: Z.B. (61), M.B. (35), and B.B. (43).

The operation was carried out following the opening of a case at the Delchevo Basic Public Prosecutor’s Office (PPO) regarding the criminal offenses of extortion and endangering safety, as defined and punishable under Articles 259 and 144 (Paragraph 2) of the Criminal Code.

According to the report, several individuals from Skopje issued threats against the life and physical safety of a Delchevo resident, demanding a payment of €10,000 and threatening to release compromising material if the demand was not met.

During the searches, an illegal M57 handgun (7.62mm caliber) was discovered; subsequent checks revealed that the weapon originated from a serious theft committed within the jurisdiction of the Skopje Regional Police Department.

Appropriate criminal charges will be filed once the case documentation is complete.
