Construction of the Kichevo-Ohrid motorway is realized at a fast pace and we will put into use the most challenging 10km-long section in the coming months, Macedonian Deputy PM and Transport Minister Aleksandar Nikoloski told reporters on Saturday.
Nikoloski carried out an inspection of the route and the galleries at section Preseka-Kichevo. He said the eight galleries along this section represent an engineering marvel, and the soil is being stabilized in parallel, along with the completion of the bridges and tunnels.
“The numbers are truly impressive. These three galleries behind me are 1.1 km long, along with two tunnels of about 2 km each. These galleries are the first to be built in Macedonia and the region,” said the Deputy PM.
The abandoned project that no one believed would ever materialize is now nearing completion, with 34km already in use, adds Nikoloski.
We will open the most challenging 10 km that includes the tunnels and the galleries in the coming months, noted Deputy PM Nikoloski.
