Up to 60 high school graduates were removed from the two exam periods of the state matriculation exam due to cheating, Macedonian Minister of Education and Science Vesna Janevska informed Tuesday.

According to the minister, this year’s state matriculation exam was conducted in the best possible order, with a significantly lower number of cases of cheating compared to previous years.

In response to a reporter’s question, Janevska assessed that the organization of the exams was at a high level, and the majority of students took the exams conscientiously and without abuse.

The minister pointed out that the exams were mostly organized in large rooms, which reduced the possibility of students resorting to illegal actions.

“We can boast that this year’s state matriculation exam was held in the best possible order and peace, organized as it should be, mostly in large spaces, where students did not have the opportunity to resort to illegal actions,” said Janevska.
She noted that about 60 students were removed from the two exam periods, which, according to her, shows significant progress in the implementation of the matriculation exam.

The students were caught cheating and were immediately excluded from the exam. They will have the chance to take the exam again in the next exam period, scheduled for August.
