A robbery similar to scenes from action movies took place on the Italian highway 623 Lece-Brindizi, in the Apulia region this morning, when a group of armed robbers carried out a daring robbery of a vehicle to transport money.
According to the first reports of the Italian media, the attackers blocked the highway with a burning truck, forcing the armored vehicle to stop. Shortly after, the accomplices arrived at the scene – at least eight people in three cars – who used blue rotary lights to falsely represent themselves and mislead security.
During the escape, there was a fiery clash with carabiners at the Celino San Marco turn-off, in the direction of Leće. Although no one was injured among the security forces, several shots hit official vehicles.
One carabiner dressed in a civilian tried to chase, but the thugs deliberately hit his vehicle and threw him off the road. His health condition is not at risk.
The outcome of the robbery itself has not yet been officially confirmed, given the possibility that a security system with protective foam has been activated in an armored vehicle, which makes it impossible to steal money.
