Thursday night at around 8:30 PM, a fire broke out in the installation of the methane transmission system at the wastewater treatment plant in the village of Mojanci near Kochani. During which pipes from the system caught fire.
According to information from the competent services on the ground, a major disaster was avoided because the fire was prevented from spreading to the installation – a balloon where the methane was collected.
The Territorial Fire Department immediately intervened on the ground with four vehicles and eight firefighters and support from volunteer firefighters from the Kochani Volunteer Fire Department.
Only material damage was caused. According to well-informed sources, the possible spread of the fire in the balloon where the methane is collected could have caused a larger-scale explosion, which could have endangered the settlements of Mojanci, Gorni Podlog and Dolni Podlog.
